Internship & Examination Rules

Overview

HackerHub8 provides structured cybersecurity internships that combine practical training, mentor-led projects and real-world exposure in secure, authorised environments. This document defines selection criteria, assessment procedures, confidentiality expectations, stipend policy (if applicable), conduct rules and grievance processes. Our programs emphasise ethical practice, legal compliance (including the IT Act, 2000), and professional readiness.

1. Fees, Training & Program Structure

• Free internships: Internship positions awarded by HackerHub8 do not require any payment from candidates.
• Optional paid training: We run optional bootcamps or advanced training courses; fees (when charged) are clearly stated and optional.
• Materials & access: Lab access, training resources and internal tools for interns are provided for learning purposes; misuse is prohibited.

2. Selection & Examination Process

2.1 Resume Shortlisting

Initial review is based on resume, project work, relevant coursework, GitHub/portfolio, and stated interests.

2.2 Assessment (Online Examination)

The assessment evaluates candidates on foundational and practical cybersecurity skills. Typical areas tested:

• Networking basics, TCP/IP and packet analysis
• Linux fundamentals
• Security concepts (VAPT, OWASP, incident handling)
• Problem solving and analytical reasoning

• Time-limited: exams must be completed in one sitting within the allotted time.
• Closed-book unless explicitly stated otherwise.
• No collaboration, sharing or use of unauthorised automation/AI tools.
• Proctoring: selected assessments may use automated proctoring or require identity verification (photo/video).
• Strict anti-cheating measures — violations will lead to immediate disqualification and possible blacklisting.

2.3 Interviews (Technical & HR)

Interviews follow shortlist/exam phases and may include live technical tasks, walkthroughs of candidate projects, or scenario-based questions. Communication and teamwork skills are also evaluated.

2.4 Final Decision

Final selection is based on a combined evaluation of resume, assessment score, and interview. HackerHub8 reserves sole discretion over final decisions.

3. Stipend & Remuneration

• If offered, stipend details (amount & schedule) will be declared before the interview or at offer stage.
• Stipend eligibility depends on project funding, partner agreements, and role requirements.
• HackerHub8 may also offer non-monetary recognition such as certificates, letters of recommendation and access to advanced resources.

4. Onboarding, Attendance & Reporting

• Selected interns must complete onboarding requirements (identity verification, documents) by the given deadlines.
• Daily/weekly reporting and mentor check-ins are mandatory; failure to report may affect continuation.
• Planned leave must be requested in advance; excessive unapproved absence may lead to termination.

5. Assessments, Assignments & Certification

• Interns are assessed via quizzes, assignments, lab exercises and a final project or evaluation.
• Certification is awarded for successful completion as per stated evaluation criteria; partial completion may receive a participation note.
• All submissions must be original work; plagiarism will result in disciplinary action.

6. Confidentiality, Responsible Use & Legal Compliance

6.1 Confidentiality Obligations

Interns may access sensitive environments, simulated targets, client-authorised assets or proprietary material. Such information is confidential and must not be disclosed without explicit permission.

• Maintain strict confidentiality for client data, vulnerability reports, credentials and internal tools.
• Do not record or share internal sessions, reports or screenshots outside authorised channels.

6.2 Authorization & Ethical Rules

All security testing must be performed only on scoped, authorised systems. Unauthorized scanning, exploitation or data exfiltration is strictly forbidden and may trigger legal action.

• Operate only within the scope and rules provided for each assignment.
• Follow the HackerHub8 Ethical Hacking Guidelines and applicable laws (e.g., IT Act, 2000).
• If you discover sensitive vulnerabilities on non-authorised systems, report via the designated secure channel and do not investigate further.

6.3 Tooling & Lab Usage

Tools (e.g., Burp Suite, Nmap, Metasploit) are to be used only in authorised lab environments for learning. Using such tools on public/third-party networks without permission is illegal.

7. Termination & Misconduct

• Grounds for termination include cheating, confidentiality breach, misuse of tools, harassment, repeated unapproved absence, or poor performance.
• Terminated interns for misconduct will forfeit certification and may be blacklisted from future programs.
• Serious breaches may be reported to law enforcement or relevant authorities.

8. Grievance & Appeal

• Queries or complaints should be sent to hr@hackerhub8.in.
• Appeals regarding exam/selection outcomes must be filed within 7 calendar days of result publication with supporting evidence.

9. Data Protection & Applicant Privacy

We collect and process applicant data only for selection, assessment, onboarding and compliance. Personal data is handled according to our Privacy Policy and protected by industry-standard security controls.

11. Miscellaneous

• HackerHub8 reserves the right to amend these rules; changes will be posted and communicated to applicants where relevant.
• Final decisions on selection, stipend and termination rest with HackerHub8 management.
